Burt’s Bees is a popular company that offers mostly natural ingredients at cheaper prices than most organic lines.
I wasn’t really sure what to expect from this daily moisturizer, but I was interested to try something in their line for sensitive skin.
I saw pretty good results from this lotion, even though there were definitely a few things that I didn’t like.
Like everything in Burt’s Bees, this is a really affordable moisturizer, especially for one that has mostly natural ingredients.
This might be great for you if you are looking for something that you can use every day that is gentle and lightly moisturizing.
Overall, I thought it was great in terms of being kind to my skin, but it wasn’t as moisturizing as I needed it to be, which is why I gave it a 2.5 out of 5 stars.
Burt’s Bees Sensitive Daily Moisturizing Cream is a light and thin lotion.
It’s not oily or anything, but it is definitely not thick.
Applying this lotion is super easy.
The pump applicator worked great every time and dispenses more than enough to cover your whole face with just one pump.
I was happy to see this moisturizer soaked in really fast!
It took less than 3 minutes for it to really dry.
I liked how fast it soaked in, but it didn’t seem like enough after a couple of hours.
One of the great things about Burt’s Bees Sensitive Daily Moisturizing Cream is the smell; it is almost non-existent.
Since it has the cotton extract in it, I found it to be almost unscented with a hint of freshness.
Right after applying this moisturizer, I was a little disappointed to notice my skin felt a little waxy.
My skin was definitely more hydrated than before, but I couldn’t ignore the waxy film that seemed to stick around for at least 30 minutes.
Longer Term Results
Long term, my skin felt soft, but it was drier than I wanted it to be. I noticed patches of dryness where the lotion seemed like it completely disappeared.
I didn’t break out or have any issues with redness, but my skin didn’t really seem that hydrated after applying it several days in a row.
I kept having to reapply it during the day if I wanted to keep my skin moisturized.
Burt’s Bees has some pretty great ingredients. They market as allergy tested, hypoallergenic, dermatologist tested, and fragrance free.
One of the more unusual ingredients I noticed in this moisturizer is kaolin. Kaolin is a clay that can be found in nature or made in a lab. It has detoxifying properties and can also be used as a thickener for lotions and masks.
One of the main ingredients listed on the front of this moisturizer is cotton extract. I was interested to find that it can soothe skin and contains other great things in it like omega-3-fatty-acids and Vitamin E.
I really like that Burt’s Bees tries to use mostly natural ingredients, but it is good to note that there are still some preservatives in this moisturizer like phenoxyethanol and denatured alcohol. Most studies suggest that these things in such small amounts are not bad for your skin, but everyone can react differently.
A 1.8 oz bottle of this moisturizer is $15 on the Burt’s Bees website.
That comes out to just $8.30 per oz, which is pretty darn cheap for daily skincare.
I was disappointed to see that Burt’s Bees items are not guaranteed.
