Overall Opinion:
I was really surprised how much I liked e.l.f. Daily Hydration Moisturizer, especially for the price.
I saw pretty good short-term results after using it in the morning and at night.
It has an amazing smell and the packaging looks really nice, simple, and clean.
Application is super easy with the pump and the cream is not too thick or oily.
As far as downsides, this face lotion is definitely cheaper than some products and did not give me any great long-term results after using it for a while. So you kinda get what you pay for there.
Even though it doesn’t have any parabens, phthalates, or sulfates, this is by no means an all-natural product. So if you are looking for something that is going to be organic without all the chemicals, this isn’t going to be your go-to.
So overall, it’s a little better than average, but it still has a few drawbacks.
Detailed Opinion:
Texture/Feel
This e.l.f. moisturizer is a white facial cream that isn’t too thick and definitely not runny. It’s a nice texture for a face lotion.
Even though it’s a thinner product, it doesn’t soak in really fast, so you definitely have to wait 5-10 minutes to start applying something else over the lotion.
Application
Applying this moisturizer is super easy with the pump.
As long as you have the cap, you can stand it up on your counter to store it.
The pump worked just fine and dispenses a good amount each time. It never became clogged or didn’t work, like some pumps.
I usually only needed two pumps for each application, which I thought was a good amount.
Drying Time
Drying time with this face lotion is surprisingly slow.
It really isn’t that thick of a cream, so I didn’t think that it would take as long as it did to totally soak into my skin.
I also noticed that even after it dried, I could really smell the perfume in the moisturizer, which some people might not like, even though I thought it was a great smell.
It really doesn’t say whether to apply it in the morning or night. It just says daily. So I tried both morning and night at different times.
The length of time it took to soak in definitely made my morning routine a little bit longer.
Smell
This has a great smell – it is slightly floral and really luxurious, which was surprising for how cheap it is!
The smell really isn’t too strong, but it is really refreshing in the morning or just before bed.
As I said above, the smell kind of lingers on your face even after it soaks in, which some people may or may not like.
Immediate Results
After it soaks in and I finish applying my makeup, I noticed my skin was much softer than usual.
I really liked how it seemed to really give me that moisture that I was looking for without making my skin look dewy or oily.
It blended just fine with my foundation and didn’t cause any separation with my makeup or anything like that. The one thing that sucked is I had to wait longer than normal to apply my makeup as I was waiting for the moisturizer to dry.
Longer Term Results
Longer term I didn’t see any great results in my skin.
It really didn’t do anything for the appearance of my skin or tone.
I really liked how it made my skin feel right after using it, but the effects didn’t seem to last very long and didn’t give me any long term improvement of fine lines.
Overall, the wait time in the morning and the lack of overall improvement in my skin was less impressive than some moisturizers I have tried in the past.
I was really hoping to see some results as far as hydration or anti-aging, but unfortunately didn’t.
Ingredient Notes
e.l.f. Daily Hydration Moisturizer contains some nice ingredients. One of my favorites is the Aloe Vera Leaf extract, which is used in tons of moisturizers and always makes my skin feel refreshed and hydrated.
Jojoba Oil extract is also in this face lotion, which has anti-bacterial and anti-inflammatory properties, which are great for fighting acne and preventing breakouts.
I noticed that one of the main ingredients is butylene glycol, which is a chemical that helps all of the other ingredients really penetrate the skin. While I don’t mind it being in my moisturizer, it has been known to cause skin irritation for many people.
This product also has dimethicone, which for most people doesn’t cause an issue, but has been known to leave a film on the skin even after removing the product as well as clogging pores.
Price
e.l.f. is a brand that is known for their extremely affordable pricing for all their makeup and face products.
This is a really affordable daily face moisturizer, as it is only $8.00 for 2.53 fl oz!
Regardless, e.l.f. generally does a great job at making the most out of their products even though they are so low in price.
Once you see the ingredients, you know why it is so cheap, but it actually did a good job at moisturizing in the short term regardless of some of the chemicals.
Guarantee
I couldn’t find any guarantee of satisfaction on the website or the packaging for this moisturizer, but it is relatively inexpensive, so I wasn’t too disappointed about it.
